Mr. Vinaya Varma is MD & CEO of mjunction services limited
He joined mjunction in February 2001 as a part of its founding team. At mjunction, he has been instrumental in conceptualization, launch and ramp-up of its businesses.
He is a B. Tech from IIT Kanpur and has completed his Advanced Management Program from IIM Calcutta. Prior to joining mjunction, Vinaya was at Tata Steel, where he had worked in several functional areas encompassing Production, Planning, Sales and Marketing. He was also part of several big transformational projects at Tata Steel such as Business Process Reengineering, SAP R/3 and launch of Tata Steel’s eCommerce portal.
Vinaya is a passionate believer in the power of eCommerce, technology and innovation in effective, efficient and transparent B2B eCommerce. He takes special interest in driving ejunction, the CSR initiative of mjunction, which provides computer literacy to 10,000+ persons annually, belonging to the disadvantaged sections of the society, which helps them in finding better job opportunities.
He is a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) from Institute for Supply Management (ISM), USA. He is a practitioner of Theory of Constraints and has attended several sessions of ToC at Goldratt House, Tel Aviv.
In 2016, Vinaya won the “Special Recognition Award” in the services category in “The Bengal Entrepreneurship Recognition” conferred by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and now heads the chamber’s Expert Committee on e-Commerce as Chairperson.
Vinaya is an elected member of CII’s Eastern Regional Council since April 2020.
Vinaya is the co-Chairman of the Assocham National Council of Commodity Markets, and is a Member of Nasscom.
He has earlier served as elected Member of CII West Bengal State Council and Chairman of Startup & Innovation Task Force for CII Eastern Region. Other key positions he has held are that of Member of CII National Startup Council and an elected Member of Nasscom’s Internet, Mobile & e-Commerce Council.
Beyond work, Vinaya likes to play with his dog and spends Sunday mornings tending to his collection of orchids, adeniums and bougainvillea on his terrace garden.
Vinaya lives in Kolkata with his wife and two sons.
