Teas fetch record prices at International Tea Day auction

Jorhat, June 20: The second International Tea Day Special Auction organised by mjunction services limited, India’s largest B2B e-commerce company, fetched record prices and met with resounding success at the Jorhat Tea Auction Centre today.

A total of 28 lots were on display and most of the best marks of Upper Assam and Nagaland like Lankashi, Diroibam, Charaideo Premium, Abhilex, Narayanpur Panbarry, Tirual, Arin, Friends Tea, Pabhojan, Silonijan, Chinatoly, Gorajan, Gauripur, Akaa Organic, Camellia, participated. More than 93% of the total teas on offer got sold. Buyers had logged in from Assam, West Bengal, Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan, Telengana, Gujarat and others.

Pabhojan Golden tip was sold at a record price of Rs 99,999 per kg. Pabhojan Oolong tea was sold at Rs 4000 per kg, Akaa Orghanic TGFOP fetched Rs 1251 per kg and Tocklai CTC tea fetched Rs 440 per kg – also record prices in their respective categories.

Today’s event organised by mjunction elicited positive response from buyers and sellers alike.

Mrs Rakhi Dutta Saikia, Director, Pabhojan TE of Arin Tea Pvt Ltd lauded mjunction’s efforts on the occasion. “I am very happy that quality of good teas are appreciated. For planters like us, this is a huge achievement and a big motivation to make more quality teas.”

Dr A K Barooah, Director, TRA, Tocklai Tea Research Institute had congratulated mjunction for the success of ITD sales.

Mr Jayant Jalan of Absolute Tea who bought the Tocklai CTC tea with highest bid of Rs 440 per kg, said: “We have been buying good Assam teas being offered at mjunction on a consistent basis. Out of three lots we purchased, two were bought for upcountry buyers while the Tocklai teas would be available for sale in Absolute Tea website starting next week.”

Mr Brij Mohan Chandak of Chandak Tea Pvt Ltd, Rajasthan, said: ‘We have seen lots of good quality teas on offer at the special auction and purchased few. I believe, this platform of mjunction would soon attract more and more buyers and sellers soon. We get all technical information on time in the platform.

Mr Nilesh Divekar of Shangrila Enterprise who purchased many a lot including speciality teas, said he would continue to support good quality teas offered in the platform.
