Deepak is a Mechanical Engineer from Jorhat Engineering College and a PGDM (Marketing) from Assam Institute of Management. He has 27 years of extensive experience in the areas of e-commerce, project management, sales and marketing, business development and key account management.
During the period Jun’1996 – Feb’2004, Deepak was associated with ITW Signode India Ltd, subsidiary of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) Inc., USA, an $ 18 billion Fortune 200 Company. At ITW Signode, Deepak has worked with various strategic business units across PAN-India in the areas of steel and metals packaging, industrial packaging, engineered polymers, non-destructive testing, speciality chemicals and industrial automation. He was instrumental in introducing and managing key customers from various industrial segments, and he also contributed significantly towards development of effective distribution networks.
In Feb’2004, Deepak joined mjunction services ltd., a TATA Steel – SAIL joint venture, which is India’s largest B2B e-commerce company and the world’s largest e-marketplace for steel. He has played a key role in the launch and ramp-up of some of mjunction’s largest businesses, in the supply chain of products like steel, coal, lignite, sand, natural gas and tea. He has been instrumental in building a coal e-market in India, and in enabling online sale of more than 500 million tonnes of coal to 25,000+ buyers located across the country, using mjunction’s hybrid platforms for spot and forward e-auctions. He is currently leading various e-marketplace initiatives for buy and sell of commodities, with the active support of a team of talented professionals to deliver high level of customer satisfaction.
Deepak is a member of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) National Expert Committee on minerals & metals.
