mjunction holds 10th Indian Coal Markets Conference

September 04-06, 2016, the Hyatt Regency, Kolkata

The 10th Indian Coal Markets Conference organised by mjunction was held in Kolkata from September 4 to 6, 2016. Three hundred delegates from 11 countries and 130 organisations explored the future of coal in an increasingly complex business environment.

mjunction CEO, Mr Vinaya Varma, said in his welcome address: “Much has changed in the Indian coal scenario over the last one year….Today, the situation is very different. Instead of scarcity, we have a situation of surplus in coal supply.” However, if the captive coal production continues to falter, the overall supply scenario may go back to where it was a year ago, he cautioned.

Mr Peeyush Kumar, Director (Technical), Ministry of Coal, Mr S D Prasad, General Manager (Fuel), NTPC Ltd, Mr Gerard McCloskey, founder, McCloskey Group, Mr Rajeev Singhal, Vice President, Raw Materials, Tata Steel, and Mr Partha S Bhattacharyya, former chairman, Coal India Ltd, were among those who addressed the conference.

All major consumer segments, which included power, cement and steel industries, had their representations at the event. Apart from the deliberations on the industry, another major draw for the conference was the seventh Awards Night dinner. Awards were given in ten categories to firms engaged with the coal vertical.

mjunction facilitates sale of 418.05 MHz telecom spectrum

January 5, 2015, the Oberoi Grand, Kolkata

e-auction of telecom spectrum in various bands was conducted by mjunction for a period of 19 days beginning March 4 and lasted for over 115 rounds. Eight telecom operators participated in the auction, out of which seven operators emerged winners. They are Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, RJio, RCom, Tata Teleservices and Aircel. Out of the 69 spectrum offerings over 22 telecom circles, 63 received bids, of which 50 were sold at a premium over the reserve price. In fact, the highest price gain over the reserve price stood at over 93%. Out of the 470.75 MHz on offer, 418.05 MHz was sold. Auction of four bands were conducted in a single event, making it convenient for buyers to switch between bands in any of the rounds. Thus it was a Simultaneous Multiple Rounds Ascending (SMRA) e-auction conducted for the four bands of 2100 MHz, 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz spectrum bands. In this method, all 69 offerings opened simultaneously, remaining open together and subsequently closing together.
